Get CommentLuv And KeywordLuv For Your Comments

I am a firm believer in showing love to my readers, bloggers and non-bloggers alike. I have been a ‘Do Follow‘ adopter from the very beginning of my blogging days.

ShanKri-la Loves You!

DoFollow

For those unaware, WordPress makes comments a ‘nofollow’ link to make it unattractive to spammers. But, there has been a movement to reward commentators with a linkback by removing the nofollow from comments. The DoFollow WordPress plugin makes this really easy to acheive.

So, anyone leaving a comment here will get a PR5 link back to their website helping them a little in their search engine ranking. Yes, ShanKri-la just went from PR4 to PR5 with the latest pagerank update!

CommentLuv

CommentLuv is another awesome plugin in use in ShanKri-la. This is purely to highlight the commentator’s latest post automatically by parsing their blog’s feed. So, with every comment you leave, your latest post is automatically showcased in your comment giving you some exposure with my other readers.

KeywordLuv

Even though you get these benefits, the links to your site doesn’t carry much weight like a link with a targeted keyword as anchor text. That’s why we see comments with names like ‘Free iPod nano’, ‘Detroit Real Estate’. Although it looks spammy, some of these folks are well meaning and leave comments that contribute to their discussion. I can tell a spam comment most of the time and I delete them without hesitation. I do allow comments with keywords but I still don’t get to know the name of the person leaving the comment.

My friend Stephen Cronin has solved this problem with his new plugin, KeyWordLuv. Here is an excerpt:

KeywordLuv helps you reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their site. This gives them improved anchor text, which can help their site rank higher in the search engine results.

You can now leave a comment with your name as well as a keyword of your choice here and get a PR5 link back to your site! How cool is that? People pay big bucks for that and all you have to do is comment here.

Here is how you do it:

Leave a comment with the name field like this : (spaces are fine)

K-IntheHouse@Top Firefox Extensions

The name link in the comment will appear as:

K-IntheHouse from Top Firefox Extensions

If you are a registered user, make sure you logout to see this. Check out Stephen’s other useful WordPress plugins as well.

Words of Love

I have taken the time to make this blog friendly as well as rewarding to you should you participate in any discussion here. And I highly encourage you to do so as a blog’s real value most times lies in the discussions & comments.

But, please don’t abuse it by leaving meaningless comments like ‘Nice post’ just to get some keyword love. It doesn’t help anyone and I will delete it even though I appreciate the encouragement.

Are you ready for some loving?

I totally dig how you incorporate flags and browser information in the comment section. Is this done with a plugin, or do you need to know certain code for this?

Like most everyone else, I would like to thank you for being part of the Do Follow movement…. It’s cliche, but, let’s fight spam, not blogs and not comments on blogs.

That’s why I love CommentLuv and KeywordLuv… they encourage real posts, from real humans….

    Keep it up!

keywordluv is so great. Did you know, I add do follow plugin in my blog, and people starts commenting. Amazing!

  27. this is a great decision, but this generosity on the webmaster’s part can result in lots of spam on the website. But as Michael (comment #124) states correctly, many people make an effort to post quality comments instead of spamming the sites.

when I start knowing this plugin, it sounds great, I tried on my first blog and gain a good impact and increase my PR. but you know since Google and other Search Engine always change their algorithm rapidly. I think it would be better to find some topical blog to niche. just to get long run impact. not just up and down again..

  31. hidden wall safes December 16, 2008 at 11:36 pm #

My only worry about going do follow is that it will lower the value of my site. I’ve read that the more links leaving your site reduces it’s cache with google making it harder to move up in rank. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I too am a big fan of of these plugins and dofollow blogging in general, but to be honest I have had to implement a dofollow policy to combat how many spammers comment. If you only run one blog this might not a be big chore to clean up, but when you have 12 blogs of your own and are paid to manage others comment spam can take up a lot of time better spent blogging or napping. I would recommend it for anyone though, not just full time bloggers.

I use nofollow free and give commentaters nofollow of their website at between 1 and 4 approved posts depending on the blog’s PR, but context links links are still nofollow. For registered users who can use my site forums, get author profiles with more dofollow links, submit material for guest posts etc, they all get immediate dofollow on all links contextual and otherwise.

Keyword luv and now comment luv have to be the 2 most popular plugins around right now. they seem to help both the blog owner and commentor. The blog owner gets new comments and the comentor gets a link to latest post or site.

I have read on some website that making your blog dofollow can badly effect your pagerank due to many outbound links to low pr blogs and site.
And also linking to badly design low quality content websites can downgrade the pagerank of your blog
so if it is true than how a blog with dofollow plugins can maintain their healthy pagerank?

Thanks for sharing this, Iโ€™m not all that familiar with Social media, networking and participating on blogs for backlinks as thus backlinks now a days are so week in googles algorithms, and I also believe comment links will be even weaker soon as it is not all that much different from paid links. But with this plug-in one is not buying links for money but rather a nice comment. one can take advantage of it while it lasts and commenting her and there is just nice.
