If you are in the US, chances are you probably already scored a free Spotify invite by now. I am thoroughly enjoying Spotify in my desktops and have gotten a bunch of playlists setup to listen to at work and home.
I still haven’t upgraded to a premium plan yet since the ad-supported free plan works fine for my style of usage.
But, after a while the Spotify ads are kind of getting old for me. I just came across a tweet from Lifehacker which introduced me to a free tool called Blockify.
Blcokify is available for Windows only and it’s sole purpose is to mute Spotify ads. It can just mute Spotify or mute your system speakers when it detects a Spotify ad being played.
Besides this option, Blockify also adds an option to even play your own mp3 files when the muted Spotify ads are being run.
As a bonus, it adds customizable hotkeys for Spotify so you can play, pause, skip, etc Spotify songs with just your keyboard keys.
