Weave Sync from Mozilla has been available as a Firefox add-on in beta versions. I have been following it closely as it promises to deliver what Xmarks – a Firefox add-on that syncs Firefox bookmarks, passwords, etc. to the cloud and your other Firefox browsers – delivers now.
Weave Sync also added tab sync in addition to syncing your bookmarks and passwords in Firefox. You can leave work with a few tabs open and pick it up at home with the same tabs.
Weave Sync has graduated from Mozilla Labs and is now called Firefox Sync. I believe this is done on par with Google’e Chrome Sync. Plus, this is going to be a feature of Firefox in an upcoming release update.
Firefox Sync brings along a few new features with the new name
- Availability in more than 15 languages including German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese
- A simpler sign-up and setup process
- A single button to access all your remote tabs and more
At this point Xmarks has a slight advantage over Firefox Sync for me where I can sync my bookmarks between Firefox and Chrome.
Firefox Sync is also being extended to the iPhone as an app called Firefox Home for iPhone. This will let you have your bookmarks and tabs synced to your iPhone as well over the cloud.
