Firefox Extensions: Picks of the Week 08-10-31

Happy Halloween everyone! It sounds like witches and grim reapers are going to be replaced by Joe the Plumbers & Sarah Palins tonight at Halloween parties. 😉

Let’s get to some juicy Firefox extensions I have picked for you this week

  • Drag & DropZones: Lets you drag and drop search engines to transparent zones in your browser. And any ime you need to search something, you just drag the phrase to the search engine you want and search! If you have used, WebSearch Pro extension, this is only all too familiar to you. I am yet to see which one is better.
  • Foxymeter: If you have a surfing problem, this extension shows you in the status bar the number of sites you have visited and your average per day in the status bar. Great way to get those clicks to sites at work in check.
  • MoneyQuake: Shows you real time earning statistics from online advertisement systems. The popular ones I see in there are Google Adsense and Bidvertiser. Plus, it has support for services such as TrafficCashGold, StreamRay, UmaxSearch, Buckster, etc. If you just use Adsense, Adsense Notifier is a better choice.
  • FasterFox Lite: FasterFox is an extension that has been around for a long time but it’s a love-hate thing for it because of one feature – prefetching. This feature can put load on webservers and reason for it’s (un)popularity. FasterFox Lite if Fasterfox without prefetching.
  • GPhotoSpace: An experimental add-on that lets you create a free photo album and lets you store the photos in your Gmail account. And you can quickly share pictures with your contacts easily. Xoopit for Gmail is another cool extension that can archive pictures and file attachments in your Gmail account for easy viewing/searching.
  • China Channel: Another experimental extension that let’s you experience the Internet censorship in China right from your browser.

Theme of the Week: HallOff Halloween Firefox Theme

Here is a perfect Halloween Firefox theme – HallOff! It is dark, and nice orange buttons, long bones for scrollbars, a laughing orange face when the sites load, nice doodles for navigation buttons and many other niceties. This is how my desktop looks today with this theme! It’s hard to see the details in this pic so try it to see it.

Have a fun and safe Halloween everyone!

I do love Firefox extensions, that’s the main reason I haven’t gone over to Google Chrome browser yet.

This is one of the primary reason i visit your blog.
Firefox is to blogging as google is to search.
I was on chrome for quite sometime but sorely missd firefox cos of the unlimited extensions, though i still love the way google lets u see the bookmarks.

Ankit, thanks for that motivation to keep blogging about Firefox as sometimes I feel I might be over doing it. 🙂 I agree, I have tried Chrome as well but I am back to Firefox like a bug towards the light in a dark night!
