Firefox Extensions: Picks of the Week 08-10-17

I have been doing the picks on and off for almost 18 months now and I still find new and excellent extensions that I can share with you. More power to the open source community especially to the Firefox community.

Be forewarned, posts such as these can be harmful to your productivity as spend hours playing with new extensions. 😉

  • CaptureFox: You can capture your screen and record your voice to make screencasts (tutorials, e-lessons, etc.). If you just want screenshots, try FSCapture.
  • FFChrome: Is your context menu in Firefox clutterred by options from a zillion extensions you have added? FFChrome comes to your rescue to help trim it down to the ones you actually use and hide the rest in a ‘Show All’ tab. Also, check out Menu Editor for more custom options.
  • Nodobe Viewer: Says you can free yourself from bloatware on your computer by using this viewer to view 38 different document types such as PDF, DOC, TIFF, PPT, XLS, etc right in your browser. But, you have to sign up for a free account with Vuzit to use it.
  • Fotofox: Lets you select and upload pictures from your computer to online photo services such as Flickr, Tabblo, 2hq, SmugMug, MMerela, Kodak, Pixelpipe & AZoomr. You can even add title & tags right from your browser sidebar before uploading.
FireUploader reviewed earlier provides more flexibility and support for more online services.
  • GoogleEnhancer: Who doesn’t use Google, right? This add-on adds numbers and highlighting to your search results making it easy to scan through the results.
  • ObamaFox: That’s right. Just a few more days to the election and you can news on Obama’s campaign, updates, blogs, etc in Firefox with this extension. They also released Obama’s iPhone App – Obama’08!

Need more Top Firefox Extensions? As always, uninstall extensions you don’t use any more to keep your Firefox lean and mean.

Firefox Theme of the Week

I like dark Firefox themes to match my openSUSE 11 desktop and I found another cool one this week. FoxGeek. FoxGeek, dark modern theme, has very nice use of squared edges in menu and popups, and the buttons are classy. Even though the theme is dark, it is very easy to read and distinguish every thing. Here is a screenshot.

What is your current theme? Enjoy your weekend!

I just installed the google enhancer extension. Its nice and adds nice little tweaks for easy searching. I especially like the highlighting part of the plugin.

I am using FFChrome and it really saves my a lot of trouble. I am a extension addict and cant get rid of them, so this one comes as a blessing.

Another great list, K, you must spend hours researching!

Nodobe looks good, be nice to load PDFs quicker. I find myself avoiding clicking PDF links, unless I *really* want to view them

    Cheers, Jon
