Firefox Extensions: Picks of the Week 07-09-18

It is time for another Picks of the Week collection of Firefox extensions. I haven’t posted any for a few weeks so I have some juicy ones here for you. Check it out and let me know how you liked them.

  • Daily Dilbert – Are you a Dilbert fan? This extension will add a tiny icon to your status bar. You can click on that icon to check today’s dilbert comic. There are a few language options and other comics such as Peanuts, Andy Capp, Get Fuzzy & PhD Comics.
  • Auto Shutdown – Excellent extension to automatically shutdown your computer after your Firefox has completed downloading. I leave my computer on most nights but this will come in handy if I am in the middle of downloads and I am leaving for a few days.
  • IE View Lite – A leaner and meaner replacement for IE View and IE Tab extensions. This is cross platform and a great option for Linux users as you can use this to open Konqueror or IE on Wine. Not Mac friendly though. I would like to see some more options with this extension though.
  • SimpleDelicious – An awesome extension for del.icio.us users. It appears as a Firefox menu and lets you bookmark as well as pull up your del.icio.us bookmarks as if they were in your browser bookmarks. Another lean and mean extension.
  • Update Scanner – Ever annoyed by the absence of RSS feeds in a website but you’d like to keep track of updates. Install this extension and add the button to your toolbar. Clicking the button opens the sidebar where you can easily add sites you would like to monitor.
When it detects new content, the icon in the status bar will be lit up (grey otherwise) and you can click on the icon to go to the changed website. You have options to check for minor or major changes and if you’d like to ignore numbers.
  • Coscriptor – It’s title is simplifying web based processes. It is a system for recording, sharing and automating processes. Kind of like iMacros extension but the scripts you create are recorded and stored as easy to read text and stored in Coscriptor web site so others can use it as well. Likewise, you can use scripts created by others. I am thinking GreaseMonkey for web based sequence of actions. I might do a full blown review soon.

Have you come across any fun and useful extensions lately? Drop a line in the comments below and I’ll feature them in my next picks.

Maybe you are interested in this. You can convert imacros to a link and share them online, like at http://del.icio.us/imacros/imacro

Wow, Peter! That’s pretty cool.. I just uninstalled iMacros as I wasn’t using it as much but looking at those bookmarks, it might come in handy.
