Friday Fun: Free Automated Call Back from GetMooh

It’s been a while since I did the Friday Fun post! I have found a funny yet useful-in-a-weird-situation kind of service I wanna tell you about.

GetMooh.com is an automated call back service. And what do they propose they can do?

  • help you escape from a dateΒ
  • get you out of sticky social situation
  • take the day off at work pretending to get a call about an emergency

How does it work?

So lets say you had to go over to your in-laws’ place for dinner when you’d rather bash your head against a nice concrete wall. How do you get out of it without looking like a shmuck?

You sign up for an account at GetMooh.com. Leave your number. Select a time and the message you want them to play when they call back. Go to the dinner and just wait for the call. Your cell phone rings and you are hearing a recorded voice telling you that you have a burglar in your house. Just to help with your expression when you answer back to no one on the phone that you’re on your way.

Setting up an account involves receiving a password on your phone by SMS and entering it in your account online. So, you can’t really set this up for someone else’s phone unless you happen to have access to it. Which could make for a great prank to set up a call for a colleague or a roommate. But, Getmooh folks say they’d gladly say who set up the call if the number owner asks them.

So, are you gonna prank someone or are you gonna get a call in the middle of watching ‘Desperate Housewives’ with your wife to go get a beer?

It didn’t work for me. I received the password after an hour. And the call hasn’t come also. Did it work for you ?

Ut ho.. it sure worked for me here. I tried the ‘sexy school firend’ voice and it was anything but sexy! It worked like a charm though.. πŸ™‚

What a brilliant idea – works like a charm

Though I had this type of prank pulled on me before and I was not amused so probably won’t use it to get people!

I love it! Busy professionals could also use this service to receive a call from someone to run out of a meeting. πŸ™‚

olly.. that’s probably what the creators wanna make sure too! They explicitly spell out the number of the person who set up the call at the end of the message.

Andrew.. glad you found it useful. πŸ™‚

Sounds pretty neat. Did not know of this service until I read this post. Will be checking into it soon. It seems to have many applications for lots of other sticky circumstances too. I am curious as to how much of a lag between wanting a call back and the actual occurence. Hope their site will answer this. Thank you.

I tried that… But, that was a grand failure for me… Donno if my carrier is supported…

This could be very useful I think. Haven’t tried it yet, but I think I’ll use it in future. Hopefully that service works for my country. Would be a pity if not.

Raj, there wasn’t any lag at all. It rang right at the minute I had set it up for.

Pavan.. sorry it didn’t work for you.

TR.. I am just waiting for a situation to arise so I can really use it before I forget about it. πŸ™‚

    Warenwirtschaft.. I hope so too!
