Gmail Now Previews 12 New File Formats

Gmail has been very adept at letting us preview common document formats such as Word, PDF, etc. This is very useful to view files with just the browser without having the software installed.

Google Docs previewer that made this possible just became fluent with 12 new file formats.

  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
  • Apple Pages (.PAGES)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
  • Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
  • PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
  • TrueType (.TTF)
  • XML Paper Specification (.XPS)

With the new CR-48 Chrome OS notebook (review coming soon) Google sent me, I have been consuming email through that and it will be incredibly useful to view Photoshop attachments on it.

Now, you can also upload and share these files and your recipients can view these files right on the browser without the software.
