There is no doubt GMail created more than a ripple when it was invite-only with 1GB storage space, search, better spam  handling, labels and filters. I have been using GMail ever since I got my first invite from a friend when giving out GMail invites was the rage. One of my favorite features of GMail is its filtering capability.

GMail filters

Filters give you the ability to decide what to do with an email when it arrives in your inbox. A few possible uses for it are:

• Look at from address or subject and automatically archive the email.
• Or just label the email and leave it in inbox
•  Search for a phrase in the email and perform an action.

Lifehack has an excellent article on using GMail Filters in 20 different ways. It is a must read if you want to use GMail to its full potential. Even though some of the points were familiar to me, there were lot more that I did not know. Some of them no doubt are creative ways to organize your inbox not just limited to email but event reminders and others.

GMail attachment size - now 20MB

GMail just recently increased their attachment size from 10MB to 20MB. This is very useful but keep in mind when you are sending those emails with 20MB attachments that if the recipient does not use GMail, the message will bounce anyways. It’s obvious but something easy to forget.
