Leave comments - Get Link Love at ShanKri-la
I did not know that Wordpress had intentionally added a ‘nofollow’ to all links left in comments to dissuade spammers. Not exactly a bad thing right? Then, I came across this excellent article at Chris’s Blog-Op. I am an avid reader of his very informative blog and proud to have him as one of the top commentators as well. Here is an excerpt from his post:
The reasoning behind this was that it would dissuade Spammers from leaving comments purely for the benefit of gaining links, and increasing the visibility of their spammy sites in search engines. It didn’t work, as although my anti-spam plugins like Akismet stop them reaching the blog, I have to delete these spammy comments daily - some of them contain hundreds of links, and are several screens long.
And he is right. Those links we leave in comments could be turned into valuable ‘do-follow’
links with the Link Love Plugin. It is official in ShanKri-la now. Once you leave 2 comments here, the link love starts. The default configuration requires 10 comments but it shouldn’t be that hard. So, I am following Chris’s suggestion of 2 comments.
To complement this feature, now you can see the top commentators as Top ShanKri-la Voices in the sidebar.
Comment Friday at BAYB
Matt at eJabs has a post about ‘Comment Friday’ on Blog About Your Blog (BAYB). If your comment is chosen, you could win a Link Exchange free link from BAYB. Besides, it is a great blog to read anyways and this just makes it fun to visit. I wasn’t lucky last Friday but I feel the change in the wind..
Comment Lottery by Garry Conn
Garry Conn has announced an incentive at his site encouraging us to leave comments. What other better way there is than to get paid to do it? If you are the top commentator at the end of the month, you get 10 cents per comment!
The Comment Lottery is a program I created that encourages readers to comment on my site and get paid to do it! The program is very simple. Every time you comment on my site, each comment is worth 10 cents (USD). Every month Garry Conn dot Com will payout 10 cents per comment to the top commenter of the month.
Head on over to Garry Conn’s site and let the valuable contributions begin!
CommentPower (SezWho) at ifacethoughts
Abhijit at ifacethoughts has a great post on a new Social media service called CommentPower (to be changed to SezWho). Here is an excerpt
CommentPower is a social media service that can provide the missing angle. By registering with CommentPower site owners can allow:
* Readers to rate the contribution
* Commenters to build their credibility, reputation and profile at the CommentPower Web Portal via history of all the participation.
* Site owner or the reader to highlight good contribution.
This sounds very exciting as it is not just about commenting but about providing valuable contribution with community involvement all the way!
Hello newcomer, did I say welcome to ShanKri-la yet? Before you move on, just wanted to thank you for visiting and we hope you come back and see us again!

Cheers K, I found the plugin at Andy Beards blog, and it all made sense to me.
Why not sign up as an author at BAYB, it’s a great platform that I don’t use often enough, though I have posted this week
I hope Gary’s got deep pockets

Wow, that is a sweet plugin. I also like what you did with the top commentators– I’ve been looking for a way to do that for weeks now….Thanks!
